Wednesday 17th April - walk **** – Around Felixstowe including a picnic by the Deben – sunny periods.

Was tempted by a windsurf foil today but a number of factors helped me change my mind, I have pulled a muscule in my shoulder, it was a tad on the chilly side this morning, only around 6 degrees, the wind was NW not ideal for Levington and high water was early so it would have been wind with tide, also it can chop up on the Orwell in this direction so went for plan ‘B’, pack a picnic and head out for a walk:) Super keen Mag wasout first thing sleeving her compost before pottering around the garden, I was surprised to be able to do my exercises in the sunny back garden as it was sheltered from the keen wind! The cats had been spooked by the local bully cat and sent an hour or too inn the sun onn the spare bed before coming down to check the garden out to see if it was safe! Then with picnic in the racksack we drove the short distance to The Dip but could not park as our windsurf carpark was full of plant as they were rearranging the beach huts on the beach after recent big seas had moved them, there was also a very large crane on the clifftop car park which made for some interesting pics and must have cost a fortune! We drove back towards Felixstowe and parked by the large green which is beautiful being covered in daises in Golf Road which actually a mile or so to our walk! So across the daises and down the long steps to the prom which was sheltered from the offshore wind as we set off towards Felixstowe Ferry. We had a lovely chat with a couple who recognised us from my pics on Facebook. At the end of the concrete prom was temporarily crossed with man working on the beach huts so we walked on the beach which we followed all the way to our picnic spot by the Deben which was sheltered from the wind blowing up the river! It was lovely having lunch especially when the sun came out, there were also some amazing clouds passing overhead! So well rested we continued to Felixstowe Ferry where we were treated to a small choir singing Mr Blue sky, they were really good too, something to do with East of England Ambulance Service. Through the boat yard and onto the Deben path before turning left along Tomlin Bank with a few trees in flower but they had taken a battering from the strong winds but we spotted 3 interesting butterflys sheltering inn the pink flowers! We were getting tired when we reached the van but had just walked 4 miles! Home for a cuppa and hot cross bun, yummy it was too!
